Welcome To The Village of Russell, Kansas
Berschauer family descendants from Prussia (Germany) John J Streck Sr. Everyone called him Pop. He was a man of 6ft2" in height. John was a dedicated husband and father. He had a dry sense of humor. He was a kind man, went to grade school until the 8th grade. He was a very intelligent person, loved world history and art. He always told the children of all ages, "If you see a piece of paper in the ground, pick it up and read it, You might learn something." He gave the grandchildren attention a lot of the time by telling them about the Russian Kergiesse. I don't know how to spell it, but maybe you will know what I mean. Of course he knew many things about the history of the world. He was an avid reader. When he was a young man he very much liked to hunt and fish. He took many trips doing these things. He had a Creamery and worked hard at it. Loved to visit with the people who brought in their cream and eggs to the dairy, and when things and times were hard he always paid them a few cents more. I'd say he was generous. Everyone knew Pop Streck.
The words on a marker at his eternal resting place reads: "He kept the Faith!"
