Berschauer Genealogy

I met Viktor via an email message he sent to me in early 1999. His message was written in German. He only knew German and I only know English. So through the help of friends and my German 101 class, we began a dialogue. His message said, I found your Home Page on the internet but can not understand because of English.

So, with the help of translation programs and friends, I translated the Berschauer pages into German. I emailed him with the location of the translated pages and a dialogue began. We have determined that we are directly related. My Great Grandfather, John Jakob, and his Great Great Grandfather, John Georg, were brothers.

My grandpa told me the following: His Grandpa had two brothers, Jacob and Jarjam (probably Adam).
This was told to him by his father ( thats how grandpa remembers today). Jarjam(Adam) went from Kratzke to America and back, two times, after the third time he stayed in America. There is no further information. With all this information, and help from my aunt Amalie Neubauer, I set up a genealogy of our family.

P. S. About other possibly existing brothers and sisters of the grandpa of our grandpa, we do not have any Informations. Hoffental (now called Oktjabrskoe ) is a village in Siberia, established by Volga-Germans after the Stolypin-Reform in 1913.

(Translator's comment)
I was curious about Stolypin and looked him up in the encyclopedia:

Pjotr Arkadjewitsch Stolypin, born Dresden 1862, died Kiew 1911
He was Minister of the Interior in Russia since 1906. The aim of his reform was to stabilize the social conditions in the villages in order to get farmers more economically healthy.
