The Author's Acknowledgments
First of all, I want to thank my wife Sherry for standing by me while I spent hours every day at the computer typing, arranging, reorganizing and asking her assistance always. She has proof read this text over and over and offered suggestions on how to make the presentation more easily read. Thank you darling for a job well done and for your support.
Our web page has been long in coming! I have been working with Brent Mai, Professor of Library Sciences at Purdue University for several years in bring the method and data together to bring our family history to life. He has provided all of the statistical data about Kratzke and Ahrenfeld and the family information found under Brent's Research. He has since moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee and is at the Vanderblt University. There are many others who have helped as well. Since my first Berschauer reunion in Olympia, Washington the first week of August in 1996, I have received considerable assistance from Ronald Berschauer, Andy Berschauer and Donald Berschauer. And it goes without saying that my Aunt Eva Lelia Berschauer-Miller's book, The Berschauer Genealogy was also invaluable. It was this book that inspired my entry into the study of our genealogy.
The opening picture was provided by Don Berschauer, an article in the Family History section was written by Ronald Berschauer and Andy Berschauer has helped me by reviewing the site frequently and assisting me with correcting my typo's and data accuracy. By far and away the most help came from Brent Mai. Brent assisted me with the format of presentation, he wrote the sections on Kratzke statistics and information about church and settler arrival and names. The most extensive work has to be the research that he has done on families and the family numbering system that he has worked on for years. He continues to this day to extend this rich reservior of family dynamics information. Brent also coordinated research for many families in Russia. The work was done by Dr. Igor Plehve at the Saratov University and his wife Ludmila. But it is clear that a very significant amount of work went into first gathering the data and then the pains taking task of hand writing the data down in the form of genealogical charts.
My thanks also goes out to all of the people whom have helped me and I have forgotten to mention and also all of those of you who have e-mailed me with your own family updates and suggestions for our page! My last great help came from Viktor Berschauer located in Freiberg Germany. He sought family information and typed all of his relatives into a cohesive list spanning decades. I was so fortunate to get so much help. I could not have done this without all of your help!
My Sincere Thanks!
Bob L. Berschauer
